Sewer Rescue in Toledo, Spain...

1/25/05 - Toledo, Spain

Below is a letter from Fermin Perez, savior to the greyhounds of Scooby.  I have taken the liberty of including some translations. Linda

Dear All:

Yesterday I received another phone call, now from somebody from Malpica de Tajo in the province of Toledo, somebody has heard dogs barking in an aliviadero (I don´t the word in English and I don´t have a dictionary) [SEWER].  Thank God this year has not rain a lot so that place had not water, o.k. the question is that they phone us desperately because they could not find anybody locally who wanted to go to rescue the dogs, so today a team composed by Mª Jose [THE ONLY FULL-TIME WORKER AT SCOOBY], Chris and Lucia from Holland went there driving 250 kilometers to rescue the dogs and they succeded with the help of people from the village, obviously it has been another act deliberately done for killing the galgos because for going inside they needed to move a heavy metal piece" I don´t know the name in English" [MANHOLE COVER].

The people who reported to us they said that the dogs have been there at least for four days, unfortunately we are not going to be able to get anything because the dogs are not identified but tomorrow we will do our report to the Guardia Civil here. And they are now happily at Scooby.

Don't be afraid.
We're here to help you.

The horror is behind them

The view from inside

Here comes one

You're O.K. girl

Here comes another

And another

Lucky it didn't rain
