Volunteer Opportunities

There are a number of opportunities to volunteer at GAO.  Below are some examples.  Please complete our volunteer application if you’re interested. Note that due to liability, volunteers must be at least 16 and, if younger than 18, must have a parent or legal adult guardian with them at all times.

  • Turnouts (letting dogs out, cleaning out crates, washing breakfast bowls, doing laundry, cleaning the pen). This is currently our greatest need. We ask for a minimum commitment of one turnout – may take 2 or more hours depending on the number of dogs in the kennel – per month.

  • Work With Dogs That Need Training

  • Walking dogs

  • Meet-And-Greet Representatives

  • Volunteer Coordinator/Committee

  • Donor Coordinator/Committee

  • GAO event workers: Pet Expo, IX Xmas Show, etc.

Short on time, but still want to help? In addition to the above which are always needed, we always have room for occasional or one-off assistance. Keep an eye on our Facebook page for other ways you can assist!
