Greyhound Adoption of Ohio will be holding an auction to raise funds to continue bringing greyhounds from Ireland. Why are we bringing hounds from Ireland you ask? There are only two tracks remaining in the U.S. so the hounds are all getting placed when they retire as the demand is greater than the supply. Irish hounds need our help to find forever homes but the cost to transport them is high – $2,000 per hound and we’ve acquired 65 so far – which isn’t fully covered by our adoption fee. In addition, there are the day-to-day costs of caring for them. Think of all the expenses you incur to run your own household. As a result, we’re asking for your help.

Do you have one or more new items that you can donate to the auction? Of course, greyhound-related items are great but other items with broad appeal (gift cards, etc.) would be appreciated too. We may be able to take gently used items as well. For example, we have an antique greyhound wagon and a greyhound pinball machine that aren’t new. One of our families is also donating a week in their Ohana (little house) in Hawaii.
